Spicy Goat Meat Chops Recipe: A Brief Introduction

recipe goat meat chops

Let me not lie, I’m a huge fan of this Goat meat delicacy.

Whenever I go out to a Bush Bar on Friday evenings, I never fail to destroy one or two bowls single handedly (I’m a pepper freak, what can I say? 😁).

Some Naija party people (Awon Owambe people, you know yourselves) call it small chops because it’s already cut into small bits that you can easily throw into your mouth.

For those of you in a hurry, the short version of this post reads thus:

Goat meat chops recipe is made by killing your Goat (it has to be YOUR own Goat na 🙄), smoking it in a Pit or a Barbecue grill then it’s chopped into bits (Goat Chops) and stirred in spicy pepper mixture.

But if you’re the type that loves to get your hands literally dirty with the details and you want to know all the nitty gritties (like me), then read on:

Ingredients for Goat meat chops recipe

Here are all the ingredients you need to prepare this African delicacy:

  • 1lb of boneless goat meat (it has to be boneless o. Or your teeth will just break 😆).
  • Seasoning cubes and salt
  • 2 balls of diced onions
  • 1 Red Bell and 1 Habanero pepper
  • 1 Table spoon of smoked Paprika
  • 2 Table spoons of vegetable oil
  • 33cl of water

Directions: How to make Goat meat chops at home without grilling

Follow this step by step instructions below:

Step 1: Cut your Goat Meat into tiny pieces and wash well.

Step 2: Add the meat along with half of the diced onions, salt and seasoning cubes (I prefer Knorr cubes). Add some water, stir and leave to cook until it is almost done (Goat meat can be pretty darn stubborn to cook even when dead 😆).

Step 3: Put the diced meat into a pan in a 350°F preheated oven and leave for about 20 minutes until it gets browned to your taste.

Step 4: Dice and chop the Red Bell and Habanero pepper as well as the onions.

Step 5: Next, pour some vegetable oil into a pan and stir fry the pepper and onions for a just one minute before you take if off the fire. You want to make sure you retain the crunchy feel of the pepper and onions so no need to over fry.

Step 6: Now we’ll take out our Goat meat and stir fry with the pepper and onion mixture while also tasting for seasoning.

Step 7: If you’re really interested in getting that grilled smoky flavor, here’s how to do it:

Place a stainless steel bowl in the center of the pan, heat up charcoal until it’s red and hot, then pick up the charcoal and place in the stainless steel bowl using your hand a pair of throngs.

Step 8: At once, pour a table spoon of oil on the hot coal and immediately cover the bowl and the meat with the pepper and onion mixture. Leave closed until the smoke from the charcoal completely disappears.

Step 9: Ladies and Gentle Moms when the smoke clears, your spicy Goat meat chops is set, and that’s how to make Asun recipe at home without grilling.

Find Asun near me: Order Asun in Lagos

The best way to find an Asun joint nearest to you to order, especially if you’re in Lagos, is to take a look at your Google Maps.

In there, as long as the businesses in question are listed therein, you’ll be able to find the Asun near you to order in Lagos or anywhere else in Nigeria.
